Bethany Willows is a commercial photographer whose creative practice specialises in advertising photography through the still life genre. Her works look into advertising by using the most common objects for advertising to turn those perfect looking products into something more real. She has developed her own style, through the use of lighting techniques, a bold colour palette and well thought out compositions, some in a surreal but professional manner.

 

As an example of Bethany’s creative work, her most recent exhibition, ‘Sculpturing Makeup’. Are a set of still life photographs, created for advertising purposes. By exploring 3 different types of makeup products; nail varnish, lipstick and eyeshadow, all which get used a lot in advertising but usually shown in a neat professional manner. She turned the standard advertising shot into something more unique and her own style. Bethany did this by creating sculptures and turned those perfect looking products into something more real.
